Andrew Blum Biography

Andrew Blum provides media relations counsel and strategy on news media, social media, high-profile PR and crisis communications, litigation PR, bylined articles and op-eds, and media training.

Since opening AJB Communications in 2013, Andy has directed PR for clients in the legal industry, branding, communications, science and academia, professional/financial services, publishing, education, content marketing, and renewable energy/climate change. Andy has done PR for an Emmy-winning audio tech company and book publicity for over 30 books – including those by a climate change leader, CEOs and former INS agents.

Andy has directed PR in connection with high-profile and crisis issues involving politicians, lobbyists, CEOs, the military, law firms, and individuals. Clients in this area included former New York Gov. George Pataki, Jane Goodall and a parent from the Newtown, CT Sandy Hook mass shooting. He has placed clients in leading media outlets such as "Real Time with Bill Maher."

For the legal industry, Andy has directed PR for Amlaw 100 and 200 law firms and their clients since 1998, both
in-house and as a consultant for international and U.S. firms for multiple practice areas.

Andy has TV contacts at all the major news networks, cable and business news shows. His placements include broadcast, print, online video, radio and podcasts. He has also Co-Produced several segments of CNBC Squawk Box guest hosted by Governor Pataki.

Prior to entering PR, he was a reporter, editor and freelance writer with credits including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times Syndicate, Time Magazine, ABCNews.com, The International Herald Tribune, USA Today,
LA Times, UPI, The Journal of Commerce and The National Law Journal.

He has spoken and written frequently about PR and been quoted in CNN.com, The Guardian, US & World Report, Variety, The Palm Beach Post and Access Hollywood TV. He holds a BA in Journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill and lives in New York City.
